An overview of two different European project on the cubic silicon carbide polytype (3C-SiC) will be given in this talk. In the first part (CHALLENGE project) the development of the material and of the processing
for the realization of a new generation of power devices for electrical vehicles will be explained in detail. In the second part (SiC nano for picoGeo
project) a revolutionary approach for the forecast of
eruptions and earthquakes will be explained with all the implications on the material and MEMS development.
