An electrochemical sensor was developed for the detection of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic widely used in both hospital and veterinary settings. In particular, a commercial glassy carbon electrode was modified with commercial halloysite clay, which showed remarkable sensitivity in the detection of ciprofloxacin. The material characterization was carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX). The electrical and transport properties of the modified electrodes and the capability to detect ciprofloxacin in solution were studied using Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) measurements.
